Did you know many people don’t even know what kinds of amazing animals can be found in the area?
From leopards and barking deer, to rarer mammals like weasels and flying squirrels, Jageshwar is home to an amazing variety of mammals too, as well as a variety of insects!
What would we gain by saving insects like bees, or other arthropods like spiders? Well, these creatures are great helpers! They help pollinate many of the plants that Jageshwar is home to, ensuring a vital place in the food chain. They are also a significant source of food for insectivorous birds like flycatchers, drongos, and more.
Help us help these amazing creatures. You can:
- Avoid killing bees and spiders (and other small creatures) when you come across them. Our team will help guide them away from your room if needed.
- Talk to our naturalists and learn more about these enigmatic creatures.
- Take time to observe and appreciate their busy and complex lives.
- Avoid picking flowers from live trees and bushes. Every dead flower is one food source removed and a major change to our complex ecosystem.
- Create awareness among others using your social media content.
- Avoid disturbing leaf litter as much as possible. These can be complex mini-ecosystems with caterpillars, spiders, and other invertebrates calling them home.
- Please don’t unnecessarily remove any spiderwebs unless absolutely necessary. Our eight-legged friends not only live to be respected but also help in naturally keep the populations of more troublesome insects down.
- Avoid littering and throwing garbage in the open (including “biodegradable” items). Even some of our processed foodstuffs can introduce chemicals that are harmful or indigestible to wild creatures into the soil and the natural food cycle.
- Please watch your surroundings and your step to avoid unnecessarily harming any small creatures. We know you don’t mean to, but that extra tiny effort would go a great way and be appreciated by Mother Nature and us! Take care to avoid harming any small creatures by watching your surroundings and your step.
We would love to have YOU as our helping hands in this mission. If you wish to help us in any way possible, get in touch with our team!
